About Giant Tiger
Giant Tiger is Canada’s largest discount grocery chain. It was founded in 1961 by Gordon Reid who saw discount stores in the American Midwest and wanted to bring the discount store concept to Canada. The first Giant Tiger opened in Ottawa and didn’t do very well. It was set to close during its second year, and ironically the ‘going out of business’ signs drew in enough customers to keep the business going. A few years later Giant Tiger slowly began to expand.
There are currently 207 Giant Tiger locations in Canada. About half of them are in Ontario, and another quarter of them are found in Quebec. The remaining locations are scattered across Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and British Columbia.
The Giant Tiger website is not set up for online sales yet, but you can go there to explore the sections of the store, see featured products, and to learn about the current promotions including in-store sales and contests. Another good way to stay in touch with Giant Tiger is to sign up for the GT Email Club. When you do you will get a weekly newsletter sent to your inbox. The email will contain information about what is new at your Giant Tiger, in-store specials, contests, promotions, and exclusive offers just for members. You can sign up for the email club by filling out the form on this page.
Customer service members inside your local Giant Tiger store can help you if you have any questions or comments. Giant Tiger does not have a general customer service hotline, so they urge you to speak to a team member in the store, or call your specific store location. You can find your closest Giant Tiger store here as well as get information on store hours and the phone number. If you’d rather not speak to someone directly they do have a customer service email. Send your questions or comments to firstname.lastname@example.org and someone will get back to you.
