PC Optimum Rewards

If you have been collecting PC Plus and Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Bonus Points,

you want to pay close attention to the changes that are coming in early 2018.

On February 1, 2018, the PC Plus and Shoppers Optimum programs will be joined and

become the PC Optimum program.

First off, the good news. As stated on the www.pcoptimum.ca website your PC points and Shoppers/Phamaprix Optimum points will still have the same or better value in the new PC Optimum program. Furthermore, it appears that the Special “spend your points” events, where rewards are higher, are here to stay!

So what’s happening on February 1, 2018?

On this day, all your Shoppers Optimum points will be automatically converted to PC Optimum points.

I checked the numbers and saw, that the more points you have, the better your conversion rate will be. Which means higher rewards for you.

Below is the conversion rate from the PCOptimum.ca website.

8,000 pts $10 1.250000
22,000 pts $30 1.363637
38,000 pts $60 1.578948
50,000 pts $85 1.700000
95,000 pts $170 1.789474
More than 95,000 pts 1.789474

As you can see it climbs from 1.25 to 1,78!

Want to know how your points would change? Use the handy Pc Optimum Points calculator here

PC points will be converted at a ratio of 1:1. Therefore, 10,000 PC points would equal to 10,000 PC Optimum points after the conversion.

  5. check for double the points promotions

In conclusion

In the introduction to this article, I started …First, the good news….

Going over the changes I believe it’s beneficial for customers. Millions of Canadians are using both program and the merger of PC Plus and Shoppers optimum points was inevitable after Loblaws had acquired Shoppers Drug Mart back in 2014.

The Union of the PC Plus and Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix program appears to be making things easier. You can also still use your current Shoppers Optimum and PC Plus cards to continue earning points under the new PCOptimum.ca program

Will the Bonus Redemption events be as often and good? We will wait and see.

Are you excited about the change or would you like the programs to stay as they are?
